Our newest development, now under construction, is The Residences at Qualicum Station, located at the intersection of Railway Street and Village Way in beautiful Qualicum Beach. It will be an affordable housing project, located on vacant land owned by the Town of Qualicum Beach. This new development will be a 4-storey wood frame structure consisting of apartments with seven attached townhouses. There will be surface parking, as well as elevators. The site is over 40,000 square feet and is situated within walking distance of community services, schools, play fields and other recreation facilities, stores, churches, and the beach.

The proposed building will have 56 units composed of 15 Studios, 19 one-bedroom (12 will be accessible units), 8 two-bedroom and 14 three-bedroom homes. Three-bedroom units are designed for families, two-bedroom units are designed for couples, two adults, or smaller families, one-bedroom units for couples or one adult and studios for one adult. This unique building configuration has been carefully selected to accommodate a mix of families and individuals and specifically meet the needs for housing in Qualicum Beach.

Our objective is to also provide an affordable housing project that is highly energy and water efficient, reflecting the Federal and Provincial goals. The benefits of achieving a high standard of energy-efficient building construction, ranging from significantly lower operating costs and reduction in greenhouse gas emissions to comfortable and healthy indoor spaces, ensures high quality, affordable housing for the long term.

The Housing Society is pleased that preparation work has begun that will soon bring this much-needed housing option to Qualicum Beach. These quality homes have been made possible through the support of The Town of Qualicum Beach, BC Housing, Canadian Housing and Mortgage Corporation, Federation of Canadian Municipalities and the community. We look forward to working with Saywell Contracting Ltd. to complete this affordable housing project.
